Although trained and degreed as an architect at Carnegie Mellon University, Adam Farmerie has since 1993 been exploring the relationship between form and function through a variety of interactive technologies. His additional education at the Centre de Touraine in Tours, France and the Architectural Association in London, England eventually culminated in an NEA-affliliated grant to construct the "Camera Obscura" in London in 1994.

He later co-founded Studio 609 in Pittsburgh, which produced media hybrid shows featured throughout Pittsburgh and New York. After working in architectural firms for three years, Adam co-founded NYC based Avro Design in 1997 to provide architectural services enhanced by graphic and media design.
